At Calligraphia by Melissa, we love engagements! The Knot has been talking about “engageversaries” lately – people are telling their stories, discussing the significance of the dates they got engaged, and sharing the where and how. I told my own Christmas engagement story on here a while back.

But we all love the sparklies, too, ladies. 😉 The ring that Stephen originally picked out and presented to me in New York City when he asked me to marry him was a simple, marquise-shaped diamond solitaire. He is a “minimalist”, and the ring was elegant and classic. (He did quite well in this department I may add…)

However, when we went to purchase our wedding bands, we found that we could get a diamond bridal set for 65% off instead…this was much less than the price of a single wedding band. Who knew! So we got Stephen a two-tone, lightweight, comfortable ring in titanium and me the channel-set, round cut diamonds:

We also love bridal jewelry that doesn’t feature diamonds at all. Sapphires, rubies or other precious stones are just as elegant and get the message across just as well. Hey, it worked for Kate Middleton, and she married the Prince.

So, who picked out your “rock”, you or your fiance / husband? Did you shop together for the piece of jewelry that would never leave your hand? Are you in love with it? Talk about it here!
